Chicago Fire Captain Daryl Moore Dies In Drowning At Jackson Harbor
CHICAGO (CBS)--An off-duty Chicago firefighter died overnight in an apparent drowning.

Fire crews responded to a call of a person in the water at Jackson Park Harbor, 6500 S. Richards, around midnight.
Divers searched the water and recovered a body around 5 a.m.
The man's body has been identified as Captain Darryl Moore, 55.
Darryl Moore was a fire captain of truck 40 at the fire house at 95th and Charles in the Beverly neighborhood. He's worked here for the past four years. Prior to that he was at Engine 122. @cbschicago pic.twitter.com/0DcrUVkjx4

Moore was apparently at a party on the lake when he fell off a boat.

Officials said he was in the water for several minutes before anyone noticed he had fallen overboard.
News of Moore's death Monday morning weighed heavy on the hearts of his colleagues. The mood was somber at his firehouse Monday, where his colleagues described him as a man with a dynamic personality.
"If you knew him, he was very ver boisterous and very loud and he was very genuine," said Captain Jim Trinidad of the Chicago Fire Department.
A 30-year veteran of the fire department was a father of three.
Percy Greenwood worked with Moore for 18 years.
"You hate to see someone that happy and that nice of a guy to go," Greenwood said. "Especially this close to retirement--30 years is a long time to work at a job to never see your first day off--to never even see your first retirement check."
Greenwood fought back tears Monday morning as he remembered his friend.
"I buried a lot of my brothers here--it's going to be a long day. Definitely going to be a long day."
