Chicago Cops Escort 102-Year-Old Cubs Fan Into Wrigley

(CBS) – Chicago police officers were roaming the streets of Wrigleyville in bright yellow vests, for crowd control and to make sure everyone is safe – including a 102-year-old Cubs fan.

Getting to the gates at Wrigley Field for a World Series game is no easy task, even for the young, tall and fit.

So, when 102-year-old Avon Burt arrived, her daughter was concerned how they'd safely get through.

"We walked a couple blocks and she was not going to make it. She says, 'I've got to sit down,'" Burt's daughter tells CBS 2's Susanna Song. "We came over to police, and they stepped up and came over immediately."

Officers surrounded her, creating a buffer, and moved her through the crowds in a wheelchair.

"Thank  you, Chicago PD," the daughter said.
