Chicago Church Sending Messages Of Hope To Brussels

CHICAGO (CBS) -- On this Easter Sunday, church services celebrated the resurrection of Christ, but one Chicago congregation had a special message for the people of Brussels.

CBS 2 photojournalist Scott Wilson went inside Armitage Baptist Church.

Senior Pastor Charles Lyons says the violence in Brussels is "soul-chilling" and members of his congregation are sending messages to Brussels.

"We have three different prayer walls to allow people to write messages of encouragement, hope, solidarity," Lyons said. "Nothing like a message of hope in such darkness and in the face of such despair."

The church is working with Belgian diplomats to send those personal messages to Brussels.
