Chicago Charity That Sends Shoes Around The World In Desperate Need Of New Home

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Chicago-based charity that sends shoes to far off corners of the globe is losing its donated warehouse space in the Pullman neighborhood. With two weeks to go, the situation is getting desperate, reports WBBM's Mike Krauser.

Mona Purdy is surrounded by boxes of shoes awaiting shipping from the sprawling donated warehouse space in the Pullman neighborhood.

"My neck is not in the noose yet," she said.

Purdy says she believes things happen for a reason and something good will happen.
Her main mission is shoes: two million pairs and counting.

"Shoes actually save lives in Third World countries," Purdy said.

Hundreds of kids come to the warehouse to volunteer.

"Some kids come in her and they go, 'Miss Purdy, I brought my parents here. Would you work with them because they've never anything for anybody.' That kills me," Purdy said.

Their website is shareyoursoles.org. The charity needs about 25,000 square feet.
