Chicago Area Restaurants Nominated For James Beard Awards

(CBS) -- Finalists have been announced for the 2016 James Beard Awards. It's an annual event that showcases the who's who in the culinary world, reports WBBM's Mariam Sobh.

The nominees were announced at a breakfast at the Presidio Officers Club in San Francisco.

14 Chicago restaurants and chefs made the list. They include Sepia, Alinea, and Boka.

Alinea has been nominated for outstanding restaurant and Andrew Zimmerman of Sepia is up for best chef (Great Lakes) while Topolobampo is nominated for outstanding service.

The awards ceremony will be held May 2 at the Civic Opera House in Chicago.
