Charges Pending After Two Police Officers Hurt In South Shore Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A driver who may have been intoxicated crashed an SUV into a police vehicle early Wednesday in the South Shore neighborhood, leaving two Chicago Police officers injured.

They were sitting in an unmarked police vehicle about 1:10 a.m. near 78th Street and Jeffery Boulevard when the SUV smashed into the back of it, according to preliminary information from police.

The officers were taken to hospitals with injuries that weren't thought to be life-threatening.

Police said charges — possibly DUI — were pending against the SUV's driver, whose age and gender weren't released.
