Cell Phone Video Shows Aftermath Of State Police Shooting

(CBS) -- Cell phone video captures the moments after two men were shot by an Illinois State Police trooper on the South Side.

Police say the trouble started 8:30 p.m. Thursday when the men, both passengers in a cab, refused to pay.

Denise Sanders describes what she and heard after troopers approached the cab.

"Then we heard the shots, three shots," she said.

The shots were fired by an Illinois State Trooper.

Troopers were flagged down by a taxi cab driver, near 77th and Vincennes. The driver told them the two passengers in the backseat refused to pay their fare.

When the troopers approached, one of the men allegedly pulled a gun out of his pocket. State police say the man refused numerous orders to drop the gun.

This cellphone video shows the scene, right after the shooting.

In the past six years, Illinois State Police have had 25 police-involved shootings. An investigation continues into Thursday's shooting.
