CBS Chicago First Tweet: Obama Predicts Two Terms In White House

By John Dodge

CHICAGO (CBS) -- As it turns out, he was half right.

Back in the summer of 2008, Chicago was bidding for the 2016 Olympic Games.

Just a few days after winning the Democratic nomination for president, Barack Obama appeared at a rally and had this prediction.

He had yet to win his first term, but was clearly confident he would see a second term, and, as president, welcome the world to the Olympics in Chicago.

He got the White House part right.

Chicago failed in its bid, losing in the first round of the final selection vote.

The games went to Rio de Janeiro.

CBS Chicago went back and found this tweet, its first ever, thanks to a new first-tweet tool created by Twitter.

Here are some first tweet from big-time Chicago politicos.
