CBS Adds Tony Gonzalez, Drops Marino, Sharpe In Pregame Show Shakeup

(CBS) CBS' "The NFL Today" football pregame show will have a new look next season.

CBS is adding recently retired future Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez as an analyst and parting ways with Dan Marino and Shannon Sharpe, two stalwarts of the show. Marino had been with CBS for 12 years, while Sharpe had been on for 10.

"While we welcome Tony, we want to acknowledge Dan Marino and Shannon Sharpe who have contributed greatly to the success of The NFL Today for more than a decade," CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus said in a statement. "Dan and Shannon are true Hall of Famers on the field and in front of the camera. As they pursue other professional opportunities, we thank them for their hard work and dedication and wish them nothing but the best."

CBS is also looking to hire another analyst, the Sports Business Daily reported. Gonzalez will join host James Brown and fellow analysts Bill Cowher and Boomer Esiason.
