By John Dodge

CHICAGO (CBS) -- CBS 2 investigative reporter Dave Savini pleaded guilty Tuesday to driving under the influence of alcohol.

Savini was arrested on Jan 4 by Naperville police after a minor car accident in a restaurant drive-thru.

Savini was cited for drunken driving, hit and run, battery and child endangerment.

On Tuesday, a special prosecutor dropped all but the DUI charge.

In a plea agreement, Savini was sentenced to 12 months of court supervision.

He also agreed to pay $3,185 in fines and fees. He will also pay restitution, perform 200 hours of community service, attend a victim impact panel and receive alcohol counseling.

His driver's license is suspended temporarily.

In a statement issued through his attorney Savini said, "I made a mistake and used bad judgment to drive after drinking. I take full responsibility and I apologize. I deeply regret it."
