CBS 2 Names Lionel Moise As Weekday Morning News Co-Anchor

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Lionel Moise has been named co-anchor of the CBS 2 Chicago weekday morning news. He will join Erin Kennedy behind the anchor desk, beginning Monday, September 21.

"Lionel is an insightful and energetic broadcaster who will be a terrific addition to our morning team," added Jeff Kiernan, Vice President of News. "We are excited to welcome him to Chicago and CBS 2."

"From the moment I visited Chicago and the station, I knew this is where I want to be," Moise said. "Chicago is a dynamic city with incredible people and history and I'm excited to have an opportunity to work here and make a difference."

Moise comes to CBS 2 Chicago from WLTX – News 19 in Columbia, South Carolina, where he has co-anchored weekday morning newscasts for the CBS affiliate since August 2012. He has been credited with enterprising the Online News Minute, Random Acts of Kindness and Lionel's Tech Tips, which became regular segments on the station. Last year, Governor Nikki Haley declared August 19 as Random Acts of Kindness Day in South Carolina as a result of the impact his reports made in Columbia.

During the past year, Moise has also served as an adjunct professor in visual storytelling at the University of South Carolina and completed his MBA at USC in June of this year.

Previously, Moise spent two years with WXIA-TV, in Atlanta, where he served as a reporter and producer for the station's 6, 10 and 11p.m. news broadcasts as well as weekend newscasts. Moise won two Emmy Awards for his work at WXIA.

Moise earned an undergraduate degree in broadcast journalism and psychology from the University of Miami. He is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.
