Catholic School Employee Received Letter From Cardinal George One Day After His Passing

(CBS) -- An employee of a Northwest Side Catholic church has a letter from Francis Cardinal George that she says she will always treasure.

Mary Beth Frystak says she didn't really notice the return address until she opened the letter and saw that it was from Cardinal George.

It arrived the day after he died.

Frystak is a pastoral associate at Our Lady of Victory Parish and has known the cardinal since his early days as archbishop.

She says she would frequently drop him a note saying that she was praying for him and wishing him well in his fight against cancer.

It was that kind of note that she gave him after a meeting a couple of months ago.

When she read the letter Saturday, she had tears in her eyes and goosebumps.

Frystak says she plans to frame the letter, in which the cardinal says he regretted not being able to thank her in person for her kind words.
