Cannabis Supporters Holding Conference At Navy Pier This Weekend

(CBS) -- A conference all about cannabis is taking place at Navy Pier throughout the weekend.

The second annual My Compassion Cannabis Conference is aimed at bringing together industry leaders and patients, including some who came to share their success with medical cannabis.

Kimberly Cole is an automotive industry vice president in Michigan who suffers from epilepsy.

"I was very uncomfortable with even thinking about cannabis," Cole said. "I had never used before plus it was a shift of mindset."

Cole says after reading the research and listening to the advice of her doctor, she started taking medical cannabis in various forms from candy to oils and she says she no longer suffers seizures.

Meantime, some convention attendees criticized Illinois' medical marijuana program saying it's taking too long to get started and there are too many rules.
