Calumet Heights man shot by armed robbers while backing into his garage

CHICAGO (CBS)-- A man was shot while trying to park in his own garage in Calumet Heights Thursday night. 

Chicago police said just before 10 p.m., a 41-year-old man was reversing his car into the garage, in the 9300 Block of South Jeffery Boulevard, when two armed men approached him.

When they attempted to rob the victim, he ran away. That's when the offenders fired shots - hitting him twice in the torso.

The man is in fair condition at the University of Chicago Hospital. 

The father of the victim says that he is expected to be okay. 

Police are still searching for the shooters.
