Calm Winter Weekend Ahead For Chicago

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Compared to most of the East Coast, Chicago will have it very easy in terms of winter weather this weekend, with only a bit of light lake effect snow on Friday.

Temperatures on Friday and Saturday should be about what you'd expect for this time of year, with the high both days reaching about 32 degrees.

Winter Storm Jonas, which was expected to slam the East Coast from North Carolina to New England, will miss Illinois, but the Chicago area will get a little bit of lake effect snow on Friday, but it will be insignificant in terms of accumulation.

Sunday will be relatively mild, with a high near 40 degrees, and Monday likely will bring a mix of rain and snow, with a high around 35.
