Cabbie Stabbed In Englewood Robbery

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A taxi driver was wounded during an armed robbery early Thursday in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

The driver, a 33-year-old man, was flagged down by a man in his 20s in the 5500 block of South Peoria Street about 12:05 a.m., police said. When the driver stopped, the man reached into the taxi, grabbed the driver's cell phone and stabbed him in the arm, police said.

The driver was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition had stabilized, police said.
