Cubs Top Pitching Prospect Edwards To Have Throwing Shoulder Examined

By Bruce Levine-

(CBS) Top Cubs top pitching prospect C.J. Edwards was scheduled to be examined by team doctors Thursday after complaining of right shoulder discomfort after throwing a side session earlier in the week.

The 22-year-old right-hander is 1-0 at  Double-A Tennesse with a 2.61 ERA in four starts this season. He was acquired in a trade with Texas for Matt Garza last July.

Team officials wanted Edwards to see club doctors as a precaution.
