Burglars Drive Car Into Northbrook Louis Vuitton Store

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Burglars have hit another Louis Vuitton store in the suburbs, two months after a similar smash-and-grab at the Vuitton store in Oakbrook netted $120,000 in high-end bags and merchandise for the culprits.

Northbrook Police say, just before 5 a.m. Tuesday, a group of burglars drove a stolen 2009 Toyota through the doors of Northbrook Court shopping mall, and then drove that car through part of the mall, and then through the front door of the Louis Vuitton store, where they started grabbing bags.

"They were there for about a minute, according to the cleaning crew. It did look like they removed a lot of, a large portion of merchandise on display," said Northbrook Police spokesman Daniel Petka.

The car was left inside the store - and the burglars left on foot. Petka said police were checking to see if there's a connection with a smash-and-grab two months ago at an Oakbrook Louis Vuitton store, which also involved a vehicle crashing into a closed store.
