Bulls Will Announce Award Winner This Afternoon
(CBS) The Bulls and the NBA will announce an award winner in a press conference at 4 p.m. today, it was reported this morning.
Joakim Noah is among the Defensive Player of the Year candidates, while Taj Gibson is a Sixth Man of the Year candidate.
Noah has received a lot of acclaim of late from national media to be the Defensive Player of the Year. He's regarded as one of the best pick-and-roll defenders in the league, and he's averaging 12.6 points, 11.3 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.2 steals in a career year for the league's stingiest defense.
Gibson is averaging a career-high 13.0 points and 6.8 rebounds this season.
CSNChicago.com beat writer Aggrey Sam tweeted that he expects the announcement to be for Noah winning the Defensive Player of the Year award, but nothing is yet official.
