Bulls Officially Sign Isaiah Canaan

(CBS) The Bulls have officially signed guard Isaiah Canaan, they announced Wednesday afternoon.

It's a two-year deal between Canaan and the Bulls, according to Canaan's agency, Priority Sports.

The 25-year-old Canaan has spent three years in the NBA, the last year-and-a-half with the 76ers. He averaged 11.0 points and 1.8 assists last season in 25.5 minutes per game, playing in 77 games, starting 39 times.

Canaan attempted the 11th-most 3-pointers in the league last season (485), hitting at a 36.3 percent clip. The Bulls had set their sights on adding more shooting after the recent acquisitions of point guard Rajon Rondo and shooting guard Dwyane Wade, two players who are below-average outside shooters. Canaan is a career 36.3 percent 3-point shooter.

"We feel his ability to knock down perimeter shots will be an asset to our team," Bulls general manager Gar Forman said in a statement.

Canaan will likely fight for playing time on Chicago's second unit.

The Bulls' roster sits at the limit of 15 players, though guard Spencer Dinwiddie's contract is unguaranteed. Big man Cris Felicio also has an ungauranteed deal, but the team is high on his potential, so he'll a roster lock.
