Bulls' Michael Carter-Williams Has Bone Chip In Wrist, Out At Least 2 More Weeks

By Cody Westerlund--

(CBS) Bulls guard Michael Carter-Williams has a bone chip in his left wrist and will miss at least two more weeks, the team announced Friday.

Carter-Williams has been sidelined since suffering a bone bruise in his left knee and what the team initially called a sprained left wrist while taking a hard fall in a game on Oct. 31. Since then, the wrist has continued to bother Carter-Williams, as he continues to experience "significant" swelling in it. On Wednesday, a CT scan identified a "small bone chip" in his left wrist, the team said. Carter-Williams' wrist was examined by Dr. John Fernandez.

Carter-Williams will sit out the next two weeks, then have his wrist re-evaluated. His initial timetable for a return was four to six weeks, and he's currently just shy of the four-week mark in that.

Acquired in a trade with the Bucks in October that sent Tony Snell to Milwaukee, Carter-Williams was slotting into a reserve role as the first guard off the bench for the Bulls before his injury. He averaged 4.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 15.0 minutes across the first three games of the season.

Carter-Williams entered the year with career averages of 14.5 points, 6.1 assists and 5.6 rebounds in three seasons.
