Brown Leads Indiana State Over Loyola of Chicago, 73-58

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — Devonte Brown scored 20 points, Khristian Smith had 10 points and 11 rebounds, and Indiana State pulled away in the second half en route to a 73-58 win over Loyola of Chicago on Saturday.

Brenton Scott had 11 points, and Matt Van Scyoc and Brandon Murphy each added 10 as Indiana State (7-7, 1-1) won for the fourth time in five games. Smith's layup with 9:35 left in the first half gave the senior guard 1,000 career points.

Montel James had 16 points for Loyola (7-7, 0-2), Devon Turk added 13 and Earl Peterson 12.

Leading by two at halftime, the Sycamores made their first seven field goal attempts out of the break to take a 52-40 lead with 11:06 to play. Brown went 3 of 4 from the field and 9 of 9 on free throws in the second half to score 15 of his 20 points.
