Brother, Sister Deliver Gifts To Homeless Chicagoans

(CBS) -- The spirit of the season is alive on the streets of Chicago on Christmas Eve.

As thousands were worrying about buying and wrapping, a brother and sister made the rounds and gave to the forgotten.

CBS 2's Jeremy Ross reports they say they wanted to do some random acts of kindness. It was planned out for months and they didn't notify media, but saw a need and wanted to deliver.

In the final moments of busy holiday shopping, it's possible to miss Brian and his dog Blue. Like many others panhandling they rely on the kindness of strangers

And as night began to close out the season of sales and shopping, Richard McNeal and his sister brought the last minute shopping to those less fortunate.

He gave out food and water and for those asking for help there was clothing.

His bag is full of his own clothes and others donated by friends. McNeal used his own cash to buy strangers food.

What he asked for in return only costs a smile and a greeting.

McNeal said he spent his own money and time because, "It just hit me like, why not be a blessing before Christmas?"

Holiday inspiration unwrapped and delivered on the streets of Chicago.

The two called for donations on social media and friends delivered.

Wednesday night the goal was to help dozens in the streets. The plan is to do it again on Christmas.
