Brian Hartline Visits Bears

(CBS) Having been cut by the Miami Dolphins last week in a move that saved the team $5.9 million, wide receiver Brian Hartline is free to visit with any team. Hartline is visiting with the Bears today, per a report from ProFootballTalk.com.

Hartline registered back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2012 and 2013, earning a five-year, $31-million contract with $12.5 million guaranteed. He was heavily targeted in the Dolphins' passing game during those two seasons but saw his targets cut in half last year.

In six seasons, Hartline has played in all but four games, accumulating 298 receptions for 4,243 yards, 12 touchdowns and a 14.2 yards-per-catch average.

Hartline isn't the burner the Bears lack in their passing attack. However, he's a reliable slot receiver and third-down target willing to work over the middle of the field.

The new league year officially starts next Tuesday.
