Brewers Claim Reliever Neil Ramirez Off Waivers From Cubs
(CBS) The Brewers have claimed right-handed reliever Neil Ramirez off waivers, 10 days after the Cubs designated him for assignment.
Ramirez had been hampered by right shoulder troubles, and he had a 4.70 ERA and 1.70 WHIp in eight appearances with the Cubs this season. Ramirez didn't have a regular role in the Chicago bullpen. After the move was made, Cubs manager Joe Maddon spoke highly of Ramirez, believing he could flourish in the right situation elsewhere.
The 27-year-old Ramirez did quality work for the Cubs in the past two seasons, registering a 1.44 ERA in 2014 and a 3.21 ERA in 2015. In three seasons with the Cubs, he had a 2.20 ERA in 77 appearances.
