Four Killed In Brighton Park Shooting

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Four people were fatally shot in Chicago's Brighton Park neighborhood Friday evening.

Police say they responded to reports of shots fired around 8:30 p.m. at 47th and South Fairfield and found the victims inside a vehicle.

The victims -- three males and one female -- were pronounced dead at the scene, Chicago police say.

Police scanner communication indicated shell casings from an assault rifle were found at the scene.

"Weapons of war are winding up on our streets, used by gang members to fuel their Facebook blood-sport to try to see who can outdo who," Ald. Raymond Lopez said. "We have to stay vigilant. Our parents need to stay awake and we need to start identifying who in our communities are responsible for not only holding and using these weapons, but for bringing them to the community."

Investigators say the violence stemmed from a previous conflict.

Authorities say they were looking for a white SUV in connection with the killings.

Investigators from the Organized Crime Unit are assigned to this case. As of Saturday morning, police say no one is in custody.
