Boy Spending Holiday Season Helping Homeless

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 10-year old boy from the west suburbs spent "Giving Tuesday" helping the homeless.

Earlier this month, Ryan Gustis started a project to distribute backpacks filled with food and supplies to the homeless.

Funded by his grandmother, Ryan started with 10 backpacks and supplies, but after his mom shared his story and posted pictures to Facebook, others began helping him.

On Tuesday, Ryan worked on filling 32 backpacks. He hopes to have 50 by the time he and his family go downtown to distribute them in time for Christmas.

If you want to help, Ryan is accepting monetary donations to the project through Paypal at ryanhelpsthehomeless@gmail.com
