Boy Found Running Across Garfield Boulevard Reunited With His Family

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police have located the parents of a boy who was found running across Garfield Boulevard on Tuesday morning, and he has been reunited with his family.

Police said the child, who appeared to be 4 years old, was seen running across Garfield Boulevard near Seeley Avenue around 7 a.m.

The boy, whose name is Miguel, was taken to Comer Children's Hospital to be checked out, but was not injured.

Around 10:15 a.m., police announced the boy had been identified and reunited with his family.

Officers had been seen at the boy's home Tuesday morning, questioning his grandmother.

The boy's grandmother and older brother went to the hospital with police Tuesday morning.

The grandmother said his parents were at work when Miguel got away. It appeared his brother was home with him.

A neighbor said she saw Miguel running alone across Garfield Boulevard.

"Why is he going that way? Is his parents up there waiting for him?" Violet Williams said. "He ran on up there across the boulevard, and the cars were coming. I said, 'Wait, is he going to get hit?' And I kept saying 'Where is his parents at?'"

It was unclear how Miguel got away from the house, and who was supposed to be watching him Tuesday morning.
