Boy, 7, Shot In Austin

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 7-year-old boy was shot Wednesday night while sitting in the back seat of his mother's car in the Austin neighborhood.
Police said the mother's car was parked in the 1000 block of North Leamington Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. when shots were fired, and the boy was struck in the upper right side of his back.
The woman drove her son to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, about two miles away. Police said he was in serious condition and was later transferred by ambulance to Lurie Children's Hospital.
No one was in custody early Thursday. Area North Detectives were investigating.
