Boy, 6, Killed In Accidental Shooting In West Suburbs

(STMW) -- A 6-year-old boy died Saturday afternoon from injuries he suffered in an accidental shooting at his west suburban home on Friday night.

Officers responded to a call of a child hurt in an accidental shooting in unincorporated Villa Park on Friday night, according to a statement from the DuPage County Sheriff's office.

Michael Cattron III was pronounced dead at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. He suffered a gunshot wound at his home in the 18 W100 block of 14th Street, authorities said.

Sheriff's police could not immediately be reached for further details Saturday afternoon.

An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.
