Boy, 17, Struck And Killed By Car In Orland Park

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 17-year-old boy died Friday after he was struck by a car in southwest suburban Orland Park.

An initial investigation found that a 73-year-old man was driving a 2009 Mercedes-Benz sedan west in the 100 block of Silo Ridge Road North shortly after 4:30 p.m. when he veered off the road and struck David Dolitsky, who was pushing a lawnmower at the time, police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said. A brick mailbox was also struck by the Mercedes.

Dolitsky, who lived in the same block, was taken to Franciscan St. James Health in Olympia Fields and was pronounced dead at 6:45 p.m., authorities said.

No citations or charges were issued to the 73-year-old driver Friday night, police said.

The investigation remained open as of late Friday.
