Boy, 17, Fatally Shot, Man Wounded On South Side

(STMW) -- A 17-year-old boy was killed and another man was wounded in a shooting in the South Deering neighborhood on the Far South Side Monday night.

About 7:20 p.m., Deonte M. Hoard and the 23-year-old man were shot in the 10500 block of South Yates Avenue, police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said.

Hoard, of the 10500 block of South Oglesby, was shot in the chest and died on the scene, police and the medical examiner's office said.

The man suffered a graze wound to his head and was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where he was treated and released, police said.
