Boy, 17, Critically Wounded In Humboldt Park Drive-By

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 17-year-old boy was wounded in what police believe was a gang-related drive-by shooting Thursday night in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The teenager was crossing the street about 8:20 p.m. in the 1300 block of North Spaulding Avenue when a tan-colored minivan drove past and someone inside the vehicle fired shots, said police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

The boy suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and both arms and was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, Alfaro said. As of about 12:45 a.m., he had been treated and released from the hospital.

Police believe the shooting is gang-related, Alfaro said.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
