Boy, 16, Shot And Critically Wounded On Ashland Avenue Near 95th Street

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 16-year-old boy was shot and critically wounded Tuesday afternoon in the Brainerd community, police said.

The shooting happened around 2:25 p.m. in the 9400 block of South Ashland Avenue.

The teen was standing on the sidewalk when a man came up, took out a gun, and shot him – striking him in the chest and abdomen, police said.

The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, police said.

Area South detectives were investigating.
