13-Year-Old Boy Shot, Seriously Wounded In Washington Park

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 13-year-old boy was seriously wounded in a shooting Saturday afternoon in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side.

The boy suffered a gunshot wound to the lower left leg about 4:25 p.m. in the 6100 block of South Indiana Avenue, said police News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney, citing preliminary information.

He was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, said Fire Media Affairs spokesman Joe Roccasalva.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
