Boy, 13, Missing From Logan Square

(STMW) -- A 13-year-old boy has been missing from the Logan Square neighborhood for nearly a month.

Julian Contreras was reported missing on Dec. 16 from the 3700 block of West Fullerton, according to an alert from police issued late Friday.

Contreras has been reported missing "numerous" times before, police said.

He was described as a Hispanic boy, standing 5-foot-8 and weighing 130 pounds, police said. He has brown eyes, brown hair and a medium complexion.

He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and gray jeans.

Police said Contreras' family believes the teen is "associating himself with the criminal element" in the Northwest Side's 14th police district, which includes parts of Logan Square, Bucktown Humboldt Park and Wicker Park.

Contreras is often in the areas of Milwaukee and Sawyer avenues and Elston and Fullerton avenues, police said.

Police added that the teen has been known to visit parts of the South Side, but did not specify exactly where.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Area North detectives at (312) 744-8266.
