Boy, 13, Critically Wounded In Homan Square Shooting

(STMW) -- A 13-year-old boy was critically wounded in a Homan Square neighborhood shooting Saturday afternoon on the West Side.

About 2:45 p.m., he was in the passenger seat of a van in the 3200 block of West Lexington when someone fired shots from a red SUV, police News Affairs Officer Bari Lemmon said. The SUV sped away eastbound on Lexington.

Family members drove the boy to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, Lemmon said.

A 20-year-old man was shot a block west on the same street less than seven hours earlier.
