Boy, 12, Shot In North Lawndale

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 12-year-old boy was struck by a stray bullet Sunday afternoon in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

About 3:15 p.m., the boy was standing in a playground in the 1300 block of South St. Louis Avenue when he heard gunfire and felt pain, police said.

He suffered a graze wound to the left hand and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was treated and released, police said.

Police said the shooting may have been a drive-by attack and that the boy was not the intended target.
