Lane Tech High School To Reopen Friday After Bomb Threat

(STMW) -- A bomb threat was reported at Lane Technical College Prep High School in the North Center neighborhood Thursday afternoon on the North Side.

Officers responded to the school at 2501 W. Addison St. at 5:24 p.m., according to Chicago Police.

The school was immediately evacuated after the bomb threat, according to a statement from Chicago Public Schools.

At 10 p.m., CPS said in a statement that officials conducted a sweep of the building and "determined it is safe to occupy."

"The safety of our schools is our top priority, and we will continue to work with law enforcement on the ongoing investigation," the statement said.

Classes will be held Friday, and CPD will provide additional security support as a precaution, according to the statement.
