Body Pulled From Chicago River On Near West Side

(STMW) -- A body was pulled from the Chicago River Saturday afternoon near Union Station on the city's Near West Side.

The Chicago Police Marine Unit was called about a body in the water in the 200 block of South Riverside Plaza about 12:25 p.m., according to Police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada.

The body of a man was pulled from the river, although his exact age and identity were not immediately known, Estrada said.

Area Central detectives are conducting a noncriminal death investigation, Estrada said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office could not immediately confirm the death.
