Blue Line Trains Delayed By Debris On The Tracks

CHICAGO (CBS) -- CTA Blue Line service was slowly returning to normal Monday morning, after trains were halted more than an hour between the O'Hare and Jefferson Park stops, due to a tire on the tracks.

Forest Park-bound Blue Line trains were halted between O'Hare and Jefferson Park starting around 7:30 a.m. due to debris on the tracks. A CTA employee said a tire came off a car, and ended up under a Blue Line train. All service between Harlem and Jefferson Park was suspended around 8 a.m.

The CTA set up shuttle service for the affected stations.

The CTA said Blue Line service was restored around 9:15 a.m., but residual delays were expected.
