Over 50 Vehicles Catch Fire At Blue Island Junk Yard

CHICAGO (CBS)-- A junk yard in Blue Island caught fire, burning more than 50 vehicles early Saturday morning.

According to the Blue Island Fire Chief, 50 to 60 vehicles caught fire including office trailers and one home. The house is reported to be vacant and collapsed.

The fire erupted on 131st Street near Kedzie around 3:50 a.m.

Officials said the fire was under control a little after 6 a.m. and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and arson investigators are on the scene.
