Blackhawks' Trevor Van Riemsdyk Out For Wrist Surgery

(CBS) – Blackhawks defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk will undergo surgery early next week for an injury to his right wrist, the team announced Friday.

Van Riemsdyk, 23, will be out for eight weeks but is expected to make a full recovery. His injury occurred in a recent game.

He has one assist in 18 games in his first professional season with the Blackhawks. The Middletown, N.J., native also collected three assists in eight games with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League this season

The news of the injury comes as the Blackhawks have clinched a spot in the playoffs.
