Blackhawks Trade Jeremy Morin, Acquire Richard Panik

(CBS) The Blackhawks made a low-profile trade Sunday evening, sending forward Jeremy Morin to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for forward Richard Panik.

Both players have spent this season in the AHL. The 24-year-old Morin has 22 points in 28 games with the Rockford Icehogs. The 24-year-old Panik has 25 points in 33 games with theToronto Marlies. Panik has 39 points in 151 career NHL games across three seasons, most recently with the Maple Leafs in the 2014-'15 season.

Panik was a second-round pick of the Lighting in the 2009 draft.

Morin had long ago fallen out of favor with Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville. He was traded in December 2014 by the Blackhawks to the Blue Jackets, only to come back to Chicago in the Brandon Saad deal this past summer.

Morin spent 2010-'15 with the Blackhawks organization, but he was never a postseason contributor of any sort.
