Blackhawks To Open Training Camp On Sept. 23

(CBS) The Blackhawks' quest for their next championship will win Sept. 23 when they open up training camp at Johnny's IceHouse West.

The location to start the season is a departure from years past, when the Blackhawks opened training camp at Notre Dame. The change was made in part because Chicago has 10 players, including stars Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, who will be absent initially because they're participating in the World Cup of Hockey in Toronto. That tournament runs through Oct. 1, so the start of Blackhawks training camp will have a different, short-handed look.

The Blackhawks' training camp festival will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the United Center, and it will feature a scrimmage.

The Blackhawks open the regular season on Oct. 12 by hosting the Blues.
