Blackhawks Sign Michal Rozsival, Brandon Mashinter To 1-Year Deals

(CBS) Before the start of free agency Friday, the Blackhawks have retained a pair of their own players.

Chicago has signed defenseman Michal Rozsival and forward Brandon Mashinter to one-year deals, the team announced Thursday. Both came back on cheap contracts, with Rozsival's deal checking in at $600,00 and Mashinter's at $575,000, according to ESPN's Pierre LeBrun.

The 37-year-old Rozsival had 13 points (one goals, 12 assists) in 51 games last season. He primarily played on the third line on defense, sometimes being a healthy scratch.

The 27-year-old Mashinter had five points (four goals, one assist) in 41 games. He was primarily a bottom-six winger.

Chicago's primary target in free agency is believed to be defenseman Brian Campbell, who has suggested he's willing to take a discount to join the Blackhawks.
