Blackhawks Sign G Michael Leighton To 1-Year Deal

(CBS) The Blackhawks have signed goalie Michael Leighton to a one-year extension, so his contract now runs through the conclusion of the 2015-'16 season.

The 34-year-old Leighton was 22-13-4 with a 2.26 goals against average and .920 save percentage at AHL Rockford last season. He last played in the NHL in the 2013-'13 season, when he appeared in one contest and allowed five goals.

Leighton is perhaps most known for being in goal for Philadelphia when Patrick Kane scored the overtime winner in Game 6 of the 2010 Stanley Cup Final to clinch Chicago's first title since 1961.

The Blackhawks originally drafted Leighton in the sixth round in 1999.
