Blackhawks Sign Brent Seabrook To 8-Year Extension

(CBS) -- The Chicago Blackhawks have signed veteran defenseman Brent Seabrook to an eight-year-extension through the 2023-2024 season, the team announced Saturday.

Seabrook, 30, has played with the Blackhawks for 10 seasons, winning three Stanley Cups with the team. The deal is reportedly worth $54.8 million, for an annual average value of and cap hit of $6.85 million.

Seabrook holds Blackhawks franchise records for defensemen for postseason goals (19) and postseason overtime goals (three). He also made his first All-Star game appearance last season.

He has 318 points in 763 regular-season games in his career.

Seabrook has often been paired on Chicago's top line of defense with Duncan Keith.
