Shaw is still recovering from a lower-body injury he suffered on May 2 in the opener of the conference semifinals. He's missed six straight games since then.

On Tuesday, Shaw said, "I feel like I'm ready to play," but the decision on whether to go isn't his to make. While it appears Shaw's close to returning, with a 1-0 series lead and Game 3 not until Saturday, the Blackhawks decided to take the cautious approach. Shaw did skate with teammates in practice on Tuesday and today.

"A few more days and a couple more practices, we'll get him up to speed," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville told reporters. "He wanted to play (tonight), but we felt it was in everybody's best interest to shoot for Saturday."

The Blackhawks and Kings play tonight at the United Center at 7 p.m.
