Blackhawks Release 2016-'17 Schedule, Opening Oct. 12 Against Blues

(CBS) The Blackhawks will open the 2016-'17 campaign against the rival Blues on Oct. 12 at the United Center.

The league's full schedule was released Tuesday. Highlighting Chicago's schedule is a previously announced Winter Classic contest against St. Louis at Busch Stadium on Jan. 2. It will be the Blackhawks' third Winter Classic appearance and fifth time playing in an outdoor game.

Chicago's first road game of the season will be Oct. 14 at Nashville.

Typically, Blackhawks home games from Monday through Saturday evenings will have a 7:30 p.m. puck drop, while Sunday home contests will start at 6 p.m. Some game times may be adjusted for national television. Twenty-two of the team's 41 home games will take place on weekends.

Chicago's longest road trip of the season is a seven-game challenge from Nov. 15-26.
